Today, purely on a whim, Holly (Diamond) suggests "Hey, why don't we work on a song together, haven't done that before..." (I think she's a bit jealous of "Sherlock" who collaborated with me on my last tune, Horny Sax, but I digress)..
I'm thinking "Great! Finally she wants to do this!" .. You see, at first, while very supportive of my exploration into music, she didn't seem too terribly interested herself. Then Sherlock came along, with her vast knowledge of traditional music (in such areas I am fully ignorant) and we just had a lot of fun putting together a song.
Holly felt a little left out. Understandable. Well, since she said so, I had been looking forward to working on one with her! So we sat down, started going through samples, and though perhaps a rocky start (hey, living together for 8 years... you do the math), after a little while we started getting an idea of what the other had in mind. With a bit of play and fiddling, we created Epic.
Epic is so named because upon completion, as we were running through it the last couple times, the piano sequences struck me as an almost David Foster feel, which made me think of the Olympics opening song thing from sometime in the 80's (Yeah I don't remember what year, sue me). Anyhow, the word the came to mind to describe it was "Epic".
